The Swedish bass and cello icon, Lars Danielsson's role in music history is inescapable. From Lars Jansson's early piano trio, over collaborations with Brecker Brothers to regular sideman for Trilok Gurtu, this is only the tip of the iceberg. In addition to being an impressive instrumentalist, Danielsson has an equally impressive career as a composer and conductor. For almost 20 years he led a quartet with Dave Liebman, Bobo Stenson and Jon Christensen, but since 2012 his focus has been on Liberetto. Liberetto is both a reference to the “libretto” in western art music, as a lyrical and vocal source for the opera, but also to the Latin word "liber" (free), as an expression for improvisation, but also as an understanding of music without national borders. Danielsson's compositions draws inspiration from almost all corners of the world, but it all comes together in an elegant modern jazz context. In addition to Danielsson, the group consists of the master guitarist, John Paricelli, the piano miracle, Grégory Privat, and last, but not least, the countryman and former permanent E.S.T anchor, Magnus Öström on drums.
