MIKE MURLEY DANISH-CANDIAN QUARTET

Mike Murley (Tenor Sax / CA)Heine Hansen (Piano / DK)Graig Earle (Bass / CA)Jeppe Gram (Drums / DK)

Canada has a proud jazz tradition. Oscar Peterson, Diana Krall and Kenny Wheeler are among the most well known to a broad audience. In Copenhagen, we have for the last eight years been able to enjoy the talents of the Canadian bassist Graig Earle, who keeps in touch with his musical friends in Canada. Mike Murley is today's standard setting tenor player, and he plays with marvelous technical surplus, a beautiful tone and a strong sense of melody. Murley reminds one of the classic tenor legends, from Dexter Gordon to Sonny Rollins and our own Tomas Franck. Last but not least, the quartet is completed by Heine Andersen, who has made himself known in recent years as one of the great new names of Danish jazz.
