Kathrine Windfeld won a prestigious Danish Music Award in 2016 for “New Jazz Artist of The Year” with their debut “AIRCRAFT” – which was nominated in further two categories – “Album Of The Year”, and “Composer Of The Year”. They recently released their latest album “Latency” this year, which served as further proof of the band’s undeniable talent. Brilliant compositions, hard swinging ensemble parts, and stunning soloists is what quickly has made Kathrine Windfeld Big Band one of the hottest new big bands in Denmark. In spite of their short history, they have already played with prominent names such as Mike Stern and Nancy Harms. They consist of 15 young talented musicians with the composer, arranger, and pianist Kathrine Windfeld in front. The vibrant, colorful charts draw inspiration from artists like Cannonball Adderley and Dave Holland. Nevertheless, Kathrine Windfeld has definitely shaped her own musical voice with countless original pieces – often characterized by rhythmic twists, complex harmonies and a strong attitude.
