Koppel/Blade/Colley Collective

Benjamin Koppel (Alto sax / DK)Brian Blade (Drums / US)Scott Colley (Bass / US)

The debut album from the trio Koppel/Blade/Colley was held in high regard and ranked as one of the best albums in 2015 on the acclaimed jazz magazine, DownBeat. Drummer Brian Blade is one of the most important drummers in the 21st century and he also plays with Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock. Scott Colley is the man behind the double bass, and he has played with artists such as Chris Potter, Jim Hall and Kenny Werner just to name a few. Then there is Benjamin Koppel who is Denmark?s most internationally recognized saxophonist. Blade?s creativity on the drums perfectly matches Colley?s strong improvisational skills on the bass, and combined with Koppel saxophone capabilities the trio paints an exciting sound picture. Their music ranges from quiet jazz ballads to the more powerful and energetic kind of jazz.
