Danish Saxophone player Simon Spang-Hanssen has been recognized on both the domestic and international front. He was settled for large part of the 90s in Paris where he got to know flutist Mariane Bitran who would end up as one of his most important music partners. Bitran is also an important component on Spang-Hanssen’s latest project “Back to Earth”, which was released last year together with the collective called Café Central. The Project takes jazz music as its point of departure and mixing it with influences from Brazil, West Africa and the Caribbean. The album has been lauded for Spang-Hanssen’s ability to make the rhythm-section, vocals and horns melt together into an organic whole and to incorporate lyrics and vocals into his colourful musical universe. Aside from Bitran on the flute, Spang-Hanssen will be accompanied by Claudia Campagnol on vocals and piano, Aske Drasbæk on the baritone sax, Jacob Artved on the guitar, Yasser Morejon Pino on the bass and Niclas Campagnol on the drums.

They recently released their latest album “Latency” this year, which served as further proof of the band’s undeniable talent. They consist of 15 young talented musicians with the composer, arranger, and pianist Kathrine Windfeld in front. The vibrant, colorful charts draw inspiration from artists like Cannonball Adderley and Dave Holland. Nevertheless, Kathrine Windfeld has definitely shaped her own musical voice with countless original pieces – often characterized by rhythmic twists, complex harmonies and a strong attitude.

Eric Reed/Ralph Moore Project

Eric Reed (Piano / US)Ralph Moore (Tenor Sax / UK)Andreas Svendsen (Drums / DK)Matthias Petri (Bass / DK)

Just like Wynton Marsalis evolved as a musician under the tutelage of Art Blakey, he himself has mentored countless young talents during his career. One of the most talented is Eric reed who has evolved into a star of his own who has had great success with his solo projects since his debut in 1990. British saxophone player Ralph Moore will accompany Eric Reed. Ralph has played with legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard and Horace Silver, and was for several years a member of Jay Leno’s Tonight Show Orchestra. On the bass and drums we can expect a high standard from two of Denmark’s most promising jazz musicians in the shape of Mathias Petri and Andreas Svendsen.
