RioJAZZ4

“Premium” is Montmartre’s series of rare intimate concerts with jazz giants that you cannot normally meet on small intimate stages. These concerts are priced above the normal tickets to cover costs and travel for these heavy-weights.
Caio Marcio Dos Santos (Guitar / BR)Christina Von Bülow (Alto sax / DK)Cassius Theperson (Drums / BR)Morten Ankarfeldt (Bass / DK)

RioJazz4 is a collaboration between the gifted and highly in-demand upright bass player Morten Ankarfeldt from Denmark and Brazil's biggest up-and-coming guitar talent Caio Marcio dos Santos. In 2012 they created the album "Rio em Vermelho e Azul" (Rio in Red and Blue) published at Calibrated Records which is a unique combination of Scandinavian melodic jazz and Brazilian rhythms. The result was two geographically distanced musical personalities melting into a unique, fresh and inspiring expression. To expand into a quartet, Ankarfeldt and Santos invited the famous Danish saxophonist and flute player Christina von Bülow and the talented and expressive Rio de Janeiro drummer Cassius Theperson. Their album from 2014 is named after the quartet, and with “RioJAZZ4” (Calibrated Records) the ensemble is evolving the sound that was created in the 1960’s when jazz met Brazilian instrumental music with Jobim and Stan Getz as frontrunners. Expect a beautiful and energetic concert by four musicians combining their musical references to create new grounds of sound.
