Max Ionata Danish Quartet

“Premium” is Montmartre’s series of rare intimate concerts with jazz giants that you cannot normally meet on small intimate stages. These concerts are priced above the normal tickets to cover costs and travel for these heavy-weights.
Max Ionata (Tenor sax / IT)Steen Rasmussen (Piano / DK)Jesper Bodilsen (Bass / DK)Martin Andersen (Drums / DK)

Jazz from Italy is in the front seat these years. Saxoplayer Dado Moroni and pianists Enrico Pieranunzi and Stefano Bollani regularly visits Denmark and excites everyone with their enchanting fusion between straight ahead US-jazz and Mediterranean temperament. Tenor saxophonist Max Ionata is one of tomorrow’s leading Italian musicians. His huge, dry and warm sound points back to greats like Sonny Rollins, but he still carries the beauty and warmth of his homeland with him. Here he performs with a trio led by Danish bass player Jesper Bodilsen, who is member of Bollani’s trio. Breathe in the beautiful combination of the warmth from the Mediterranean and the raw US-jazz, combined with cool Danish elegance this early spring day.

Hannah Svensson: Swedish Vocals

“Premium” is Montmartre’s series of rare intimate concerts with jazz giants that you cannot normally meet on small intimate stages. These concerts are priced above the normal tickets to cover costs and travel for these heavy-weights.
Hannah Svensson (Vocal / SE)Jacob Fischer (Guitar / DK)Mattias Svensson (Bass / SE)Zoltán Csörsz (Drums / HU)Klas Lindkvist (Alto Sax/Clarinet / SE)

Singer Hannah Svensson has a special place in Swedish jazz. She is not only a jazz singer; she is very inspired by Americana as well as Swedish popular- and traditional music, and is also a fine piano player, as well as being a fine and tasteful painter – her paintings are off course inspired by her life in jazz. But her main profile is that of a jazz singer, already now belonging to the forefront of Swedish jazz singing in 2018.

Jazz is rapidly developing these years. Young musicians appear regularly and show guts, talent and above all maturity. This Californian-born, now living in New York, vibe player Tyler Blanton is one of these. Thorough studies of the instrument and its possibilities and a natural ability to create music that makes sense, has rushed Blanton up among the leading vibe-players of the US. Storyville Album Releases: Romme Trio & Lundekvist Trio

“Premium” is Montmartre’s series of rare intimate concerts with jazz giants that you cannot normally meet on small intimate stages. These concerts are priced above the normal tickets to cover costs and travel for these heavy-weights.

1. set:

Zier Romme (Piano / DK)Anders Fjeldsted (Bass / DK)Jeppe Gram (Drums / DK)

2. set:

Sven-Erik Lundekvist (Piano / SE)Simon Petersson (Bass / SE)Olle Dernevik (Drums / SE)

Danish pianist Zier Romme has been named greatest talent in many years. And well deserved it is. He has an impressive technique; his musical ideas flow like a thundering river and he respectfully follows the fine path of instrumental predecessors. Zier Romme Trio plays jazz with joy and innovation which proves that the formation piano, bass and drums still can produce great music – as long as the musicians on stage have something on their mind. Enjoy excellent music played by excellent musicians.

With Swedish Sven-Erik Lundekvist Trio we are a little further ahead in jazz history. He brings his own music, but off course has the necessary respect for the tradition. His music is aggressive and in-your-face, but don’t worry; you are not pushed away. The three musicians know what they are doing and join each other – and the audience – in a fruitful and ever commenting and supportive cooperation. New Swedish jazz with heart, soul and energy.

Students/under 26 tickets: 120 DKK

The duo is named after a wild growing flower, deeply rooted in the Danish soil, yet distinctly influenced by the international music environment. This constellation, consisting of saxophone and bass guitar, investigates both the improvisational and composed music, which creates a unique music experience. Banke and Danstrup have worked together for years and get a lot of their inspiration from groups such as Reptiles and Klökkeblömst. The duo emphasizes an open and intimate approach for their compositions, which results in exciting new songs that range widely in genres.

Anker/Sandell Duo consists of Lotte Anker (saxophone) and Sten Sandell (piano). The duo has worked together on and off for 4 years, but their relation goes way back. Both have a vast knowledge about, and talent within, their musical field, which results in adventurous and innovative compositions. They are both well-known artists within the European improv-stage and have worked with numerous international musicians. Sandells music is inspired by a deeply personal and explorative expression. He masters the piano as well as the organ and the clavichord. Moreover, he composes music for both radio and theatres. Likewise, Ankers musical expression is inspired by a personal and lively expression. Anker has even been the initiator of groups such as Taborn, Anker and Electic Habitat.

Charles McPherson Quartet: American Jazz Legend

“Premium” is Montmartre’s series of rare intimate concerts with jazz giants that you cannot normally meet on small intimate stages. These concerts are priced above the normal tickets to cover costs and travel for these heavy-weights.
Charles McPherson (Alto Sax / US)Randy Porter (Piano / US)Mark Hodgson (Bass / UK)Stephen Keogh (Drums / IE)

Alto player Charles McPherson’s fine sound played a leading role in Clint Eastwood’s excellent movie about the life of jazz-legend Charlie Parker, ”Bird”; providing the sound for actor Forest Whitaker’s brilliant performance as Parker. McPherson was for many years closely connected to jazz-legend Charles Mingus, and he was an often-used sideman when the authentic jazz-feeling was needed. McPherson also led own groups, always focusing on genuine and heartfelt swing – more than on a ground-breaking approach. His playing today contains the same values. Charles McPherson – now in his 80th year – still represents onrushing, physical and a devil-may-care musical expression, directly from the heart of jazz itself.

Students/under 26 tickets: 162,5 DKK

The Beast is luring under society’s quiet bridge. With aggressive rhythms and experimental melodies, it jumps out and eats you and does not wait for the big buck’s roar. The music is an energetic and intense shot of afro-jazz with elements from many music genres – and draws inspiration from both Mulatu Astatke, Joe Henderson, afro-beat and bebop. The members of the group usually perform in a countless number of different constellations with diverse musical genres, which influences Bæst’s collective musical expression. With the five young and coveted musicians, playing the bass, drums, percussion, electric guitar and a characteristic saxophone in the front, a sound is created, which you can both dance to, but also lean back and enjoy.

For students/under 26, tickets: 50 DKK
