The story behind the new record label

"Montmartre To Go" became the name of the new record label founded by Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen in cooperation with Sony Music.

Montmartre and Sony want the new record label to show new creative ways forward for the music industry. And at the same time to raise funding for the historic jazz institution.

Jazzhus Montmartre is excited about the launch:

- This is truely a historic day for Montmartre. We will now be able to extend our market beyond our core audience in the club in Copenhagen but also reach out to jazz enthusiasts internationally that can buy and download LIVE concerts shortly after they have finished.

- We want to gather as much funding as possible for this great non-profit jazz club to keep it swinging for many years ahead. But we also want to find new ways for musicians and the music industry to prosper in the future at a time when sales of CDs are declining. We see this as an exciting new initiative that helps both Montmartre and its many great musicians.

The new record label will sell live concerts recorded at Montmartre as downloads from Montmartre's homepage to customers in many countries.

So if you liked what you heard at the club (or missed), you can download it and enjoy it forever.

All Montmartre's income from the new online based record label will go towards keeping the legendary Copenhagen club alive and kicking.
