Juicy finger-snapping soul/jazz with forward-kicking international group.
If you love American soul/jazz from the late 1960s, such as Cannonball Adderley and others, this gig is unmissable. It is music that goes directly to the body, there are four beats in the beat and the musicians know exactly where they are with each other. And at the same time, you can easily hear that the five musicians also have a check on the contemporary jazz musical expression.
The American trumpeter Benny Benack III, and Danish Andreas Toftemark, belongs to the top of the young generation of musicians, who have great respect for tradition. Both have the eminent technique, excess and the necessary flabbiness, which really makes the music listenable.
The quintet is completed by the rock-solid Finnish bassist Kaisa Mensivu and the aggressive American drummer Joe Peri, as well as, not least, the Danish shooting star, the pianist Rasmus Sørensen, who almost blossoms every single time his sits about to grand piano. All in all, a group that has a great future ahead of them.
Physical power and energy paired with an unquenchable joy in the music will flow from the stage.
