Tenor saxophonist Christina Dahl's quartet spans a large and beautiful emotional register that calls for deep empathy. Inspirations from King Curtis, Albert Ayler, John Coltrane and Ben Webster can be heard in her sensitive playing. The music ranges from the present and intimate to the deeply swinging and at times challenging. It never gets boring or predictable.
