Bag navnet GinmanBlachmanDahl gemmer sig tre af Danmarks største musikalske personligheder - bassist Lennart Ginman, trommeslager Thomas Blachman og pianist Carsten Dahl. GinmanBlachmanDahl er på mange måder en unik figur på den skandinaviske jazzscene. De har spillet sammen i 30 år.
GinmanBlachmanDahl bevæger sig altid frit mellem komposition og improvisation i et åbent univers, der nærmer sig musikalsk telepati. Sammen var de det første danske jazznavn, der nogensinde blev udgivet på det legendariske Verve Records i begyndelsen af 00'erne.
Under sommerens Jazz by the Sea 2023 bliver GinmanBlachmanDahl spillet en kæmpe hyldest til Wayne Shorter. Med deres frygtløse udgangspunkt, som inkluderer hele denne musikforms historie fra middagsbordsmusik, hardcore swing, kompleks kompositorisk musik gennem jazzens standardrepertoire til afdæmpet tidløs minimalisme.
"What's to come" er en ny studieoptagelse på vej. De improviserer bare sammen en hel dag - og det hele lyder overraskende som skrevne partiturer og velkendte melodier.

GinmanBlachmanDahl is in many ways a unique figure on the Scandinavian jazz scene. They have played together for 30 years.
Behind the name GinmanBlachmanDahl hide three of Denmark's greatest musical personalities - bassist Lennart Ginman, drummer Thomas Blachman and pianist Carsten Dahl. They achieve their status as one of the country's most popular musicians and orchestras through an abysmal musical trust in the magic of their joint improvisations.
GinmanBlachmanDahl always moves freely between composition and improvisation in an open universe that approaches musical telepathy. Together, they were the first Danish jazz name ever released on the legendary Verve Records in the early 00s.
During this summer's Jazz by the Sea 2023, GinmanBlachmanDahl is played a huge tribute to Wayne Shorter. With their fearless starting point, which includes the entire history of this musicform from dinnertable music, hardcore swing, complex compositional music through the standard repertoire of jazz to subdued timeless minimalism.
"What's to come" is a new studio recording on its way. They just improvise together for an entire day - and it all sounds surprisingly like written scores and well known tunes.
Its out of this world really - and it points in the direction of an innovative way of exploring knowledge and tasks in music - as composing musicians and playing composers with a strong vision.
