FOLK: Mynsterland

Henriette Ambæk Flach (violin / DK)Sofie Bollen (Violin / DK)Jonas Clausen (violin / DK)Gunver Lindeskov Søgaard (violin / DK)Lotte Wind (violin / DK)Justine Hald Boesen (accordion & vocal / DK)Maja Aarøe Freese (cello & vocal / DK)Martin Strange Lorenzen (clarinet / DK)Silje Waaler Pedersen (mandolin / DK)Michael Hornhaver Mortensen (guitar / DK)Sebastian Bloch (guitar / DK)Mathæus Bech (bass / DK)

Two years ago, Mynsterland played their debut concert in a completely packed Montmartre. Since then, they have established themselves as one of the most sought-after, ambitious and original bands on the Danish folk-scene. Even though their recent tour saw them visit some of the country’s bigger venues and concert halls, they have decided to play at Montmartre again, where it all started – despite the venue’s small size.

American Nancy Harms possesses a voice full of delicious subtleties and a striking authenticity. She has been declared "an original with a truly special voice and style" by DOWNBEAT Magazine. Harms engages the listener by seeming to put her whole soul completely forward and after hearing her once, you?ll never want to let her go. We are proud to present her at Montmartre again, cause her last visit was, by far, a great experience. This time she can be experienced on stage with a Danish/American Quartet consisting of Magnus Hjorth at the keys, Graig Earl on bass and Janus Templeton at the drums. Two great evenings awaiting!

To store aftener er i vente!

Joyce Moreno (Vocal & Guitar / BR)Helio Alves (Piano / BR)Rodolfo Stroeter (Bass / BR)Tutty Moreno (Drums / BR)

Born in Rio de Janeiro, four-times Grammy nominee, singer, composer, arranger and instrumentalist Joyce Moreno has authored more than 400 songs interpreted by the greatest names in Brazilian pop music: from Elis Regina and Gal Costa to Milton Nascimento, Sergio Mendes, and countless others. Beyond Brazil, Joyce’s work has been recorded by Annie Lennox, The Black Eyed Peas and Gerry Mulligan to name a few. Since the beginning of her career, Joyce’s trademark has been the first-person feminine voice, which she pioneered; she was the first Brazilian female songwriter to express herself in this form, opening the way for countless other artists who followed. MGK: Midtvejskoncert – Musik På Vej

“Upcoming” is Montmartre’s series of talent concerts where upcoming artists test the boundaries of jazz.

1 sæt: Theiss Nemborg Theiss Nemborg (Drums / DK) Daniel Mølgaard Christensen (Sax / DK) Malthe Kaptain (Trumpet / DK) Sofus Ingemann (Piano/Synth / DK) Óliver Bernburg (Bass/Synth / DK)

2 sæt: Oliver Skou-Due Oliver Skou-Due (Piano / DK) Isak Schiødt (Tenor Sax / DK) Malthe Kaptajn (Trumpet / DK) Lukas Loeb (Electrical Bass/Bass / DK) William Spanggaard Nielsen (Drums / DK

3 sæt: Jeff Wagner Jeff Zake Wagner (Guitar / DK) Laurits Malmquist (Bass / DK) Theiss Nemborg (Drums / DK)

4 sæt: Daniel Mølgaard Benjamin Rasmussen (Guitar / DK) Oliver Skou-Due (Piano/Vocal / DK) Oliver Bernburg (Bass / DK) Theiss Nemborg (Drums / DK) + Special Guests

“Upcoming” is Montmartre’s series of talent concerts where upcoming artists test the boundaries of jazz.
Nana Rashid (Vocal / DK)Peter Rylén (Piano / SE)

The beautiful Danish jazz vocalist released her debut EP ’Sorrow in Sunlight’ in 2016 and was then called “a big undiscovered talent in jazz”. In a brilliant and playful teamwork with the pianist Petter Rylén, Nana sings her heart out with her timeless, honest and enchanting voice, reminiscent of such greats as Nina Simone and Radka Toneff. The tasteful and minimalistic arrangement creates a rare vulnerability. Nana Rashid and Petter Rylén perceives music as empathy, that embraces everyone which gives us a sense of belonging and makes us feel human. They move the listener with their dynamic universe and is definitely a fascinating acquittance.

Tickets only sold at the door. DKK 100/50 for people under 26 and students.

Saxophonist and composer Fredrik Kronkvist celebrates the 15th anniversary of his album debut in own name. In that regard, he publishes the KRONICLES album with an international group of exciting world stars, which becomes his 16th album as a bandleader. For the same reason, Kronkvist publishes a book with nodes from his hundreds of recorded and published compositions. On KRONICLES, he creates powerful new music with his virtuoso play on the saxophone accompanied by a terrific rhythm section. The quartet consists of Jeff "Tain" Watts, a champion of modern jazz drumming, pianist Orrin Evans, who has been renowned for his eternal inventiveness at the keys, and Sweden's internationally sought-after bassist Martin Sjöstedt. With Kronkvist's compositions as a foundation, the group builds an adventurous world of exciting rhythms, catchy harmonies and beautiful melodies performed easily, playfully and with a passion of capturing the moment through improvisations.

The Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren plays with an unmatched poetic sensitivity. The delicate and lively impacts on the keys goes straight in to the hearts of audiences around the world; lately he played a sold out concert at the honorable Suginami Hall, Tokyo, with this trio. He lifts the legacy of Sweden's great pianist, Jan Johansson, like no other. In 2007, he even became the first Nordic musician to become an 'International Steinway Artist'. For two decades, he has played in his trio constellation, which is one of the most beloved groups in the Nordic region these years. Jan Lundgren, Mattias Svensson and Zoltan Csörsz create a completely seductive and unforgettable experience - especially when experienced close up in the intimate settings of Montmartre.

Nordic light and airiness elegantly combined with the sensuality and passion of latin american has proven a successful combination for the danish duo Vingefang. They are a shining example of music knowing no borders and that maybe nordic folk music has a lot more in common with latin american music than one might think.

triosence: Hidden Beauty

“Premium” is Montmartre’s series of rare intimate concerts with jazz giants that you cannot normally meet on small intimate stages. These concerts are priced above the normal tickets to cover costs and travel for these heavy-weights.
Bernhard Schüller (Piano / DE)Omar Rodriguez Calvo (Bass / CU)Tobias Schulte (Drums/Percussion / DE)

“The new faces of German Jazz” is how the German magazine Stern referred to triosence, when the trio formed in 1999. Since their debut album, “First Enchantment”, released in 2002, triosence has been praised by the music press all around the world. The trio has been acclaimed as one of the most successful jazz imports and as “the piano trio that changed our impression of the stiff German jazz” by Swing Journal Japan. Over the years, they have created their own fresh and unique style from a combination of Jazz, Fusion, Folk and World Music. Because they emphasize melody and focus on the essence of the song as their trademark, the trio has labeled their music Song-jazz. The result is music that connects with a variety of audiences, from pure jazz fans to those who haven’t found themselves among jazz listeners before.

“The new faces of German Jazz” sådan beskrev det tyske magasin Stern triosence, da trioen blev dannet i 1999.

The word unique is used a lot in blurbs like these, but it doesn’t get more justified, than in the case of Nini Julia Bang. Dejan became a mainstay on the European jazz scene long ago. Recently he decided to focus on his own projects and gathered this quartet. They released their debut album Axiom at the famous Italian label CAM Jazz. The new Quartet performs original music - interprets and improvises using minimalist approaches, melancholic colors and musical interweaving’s of multilayered structures. The interplay of the four individuals is breathtaking!

Kristin Korb: That Time of Year feat. Mathias Heise

“Premium” is Montmartre’s series of rare intimate concerts with jazz giants that you cannot normally meet on small intimate stages. These concerts are priced above the normal tickets to cover costs and travel for these heavy-weights.
Kristin Korb (Vocal/Bass / US)Mathias Heise (Harmonica / DK)Calle Brickman (Piano / SE)Snorre Kirk (Drums / SE)

In 2017, Kristin Korb and her merry band of elves (Calle Brickman, Snorre Kirk, and Mathias Heise) presented a series of Christmas concerts. The band and the audiences had so much fun, that Kristin decided to further develop the program. Known for her exuberant spirit and contagious optimism, it is only fitting that bassist and vocalist recorded a Christmas project to celebrate her 10th album and first with Storyville Records. “That Time of Year” is the result of that festive collaboration. “I wanted to assemble a program that creates a feeling of “hygge” and joy without being overly sweet or boring. I carefully selected songs from my childhood, songs reflecting long-standing friendships, and songs that are just fun and wintery. This is a soundtrack for tree trimming, lighting candles, and hanging out with those you love.” – Kristin Korb. Join Kristin and the guys for a celebration of childhood glee, holiday classics, and the quiet hygge of sitting by the fire with the ones you love.

”That Time of Year” er resultatet af det festlige samarbejde.

David Helbock's Random/Control: Tour d’ Horizon

“Premium” is Montmartre’s series of rare intimate concerts with jazz giants that you cannot normally meet on small intimate stages. These concerts are priced above the normal tickets to cover costs and travel for these heavy-weights.
David Helbock (Piano, Electronics, Perc / AT)Johannes Bär (Trumpet, Sousaphone, Tuba, Beatbox, Didgeridoo, Electronics, Percussion / AT)Andreas Broger (Sax, Clarinet, Flute, Percussion / AT)

More than 20 instruments on stage, but just three musicians: David Helbock, Outstanding Artist Award Winner in Austria, mainly plays on instruments with keys. Johannes Bär does all the brass, from trumpet to bass flugelhorn and tuba and Andreas Broger plays wind-instruments like saxophones, clarinets and flutes. For their new program, which was released as a CD on the renowned label ACT Music, David Helbock got inspired by his favorite jazz piano players and arranged their most famous tunes for this special line-up. New, exciting versions of Watermelon Man by Herbie Hancock or Bolivia by Cedar Walton emerged - but also soft, atmospheric pieces like Keith Jarrett´s My Song shine like new. Over the years Random/Control has developed a distinct band sound, always a ride on the rollercoaster for the ear and the eye. Or like Roland Spiegel from the Bavarian Radio wrote already years ago: "The listener experiences something new when David Helbock plays. And it ́s never top-heavy music – it ́s music that thrills the body and the mind.”

The listener experiences something new when David Helbock plays. And it ́s never top-heavy music – it ́s music that thrills the body and the mind.”

The songs are interpreted in personal editions with the three musicians own original fingerprints. Together, the three musicians have created an open, entertaining and unpretentious style that provides space for delightful, uplifting and virtuoso music for all.

De Onde

Peter Marott (Trumpet / DK)Tobias Trier (Guitar / DK)Torben Westergaard (Bass / DK)Carl Quist-Møller (Drums / DK)

Muhaha!
