Jazzhus Montmartres musikchef, Jan Lundgren, indtager atter engang pladsen bag flyglet og får behørigt selskab af guitaristen Ulf Wakenius, bassisten Hans Backenroth og den danske trommeslager Kristian Leth. Sammen vil denne super kvartet spille musik fra både Oscar Petersons og Duke Ellingtons repertoire. Kendte jazzklassikere fortolket på mesterligt vis af nogle af Skandinaviens mest efterspurgte musikere.

Ulf Wakenius er i Danmark særligt forbundet med Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen, med hvem har spillede fast som en af NHØP’s trio frem til 2005. I Perioden 1997 til 2007 var Wakenius fast medlem af Oscar Petersons Quartet, hvilket for alvor satte gange i den internationale karriere og satte Wakenius i selskab med de allerstørste navne i jazzen.

Siden Jan Lundgren debuterede med albummet Conclusion i 1994, har han ikke set sig tilbage. I dag anses Lundgren for en af Europas bedste jazzpianister og har koncertaktiviteter samt album-udgivelser over hele verden. Jan Lundgren var med til at starte Ystad Sweden Jazzfestival i 2010 og har ydermere været musikchef i Jazzhus Montmartre i 2016.
Wakenius og Lundgren får stærkt selskab af en svensk/dansk rytmegruppe med bassisten Hans Backenorth og den danske trommeslager Kristian Leth. Sammen har de spillet og indspillet med en lang række af jazzens store navne som fx Scott Hamilton, Harry Allen, Benny Golson, Claire Martin, Champian Fulton, Ken Peplowski samt mange andre.

Netop kombinationen af tradition, opdagelse, fornyelse og forvandling er hvad man kan forventet sig når Jan Lundgren sammen med Ulf Wakenius fortolker musik af Duke Ellington og Oscar Peterson, to af jazzens største ikoner!

Jazzhus Montmartre's music director, Jan Lundgren, once again takes the place behind the grand piano and is duly joined by guitarist Ulf Wakenius, bassist Hans Backenroth and Danish drummer Kristian Leth. Together, this super quartet will play music from both Oscar Peterson's and Duke Ellington's repertoire. Well-known jazz classics masterfully interpreted by some of Scandinavia's most sought-after musicians.

In Denmark, Ulf Wakenius is particularly associated with Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen, with whom he played regularly as one of NHØP's trio until 2005. In the period 1997 to 2007, Wakenius was a regular member of Oscar Peterson's Quartet, which really set the stage for his international career and put Wakenius in the company of the biggest names in jazz.

Since Jan Lundgren debuted with the album Conclusion in 1994, he has not looked back. Today, Lundgren is considered one of Europe's best jazz pianists and has concert activities and album releases all over the world. Jan Lundgren helped start the Ystad Sweden Jazzfestival in 2010 and has also been music director at Jazzhus Montmartre in 2016.
Wakenius and Lundgren are strongly joined by a Swedish/Danish rhythm group with bassist Hans Backenorth and Danish drummer Kristian Leth. Together they have played and recorded with a large number of jazz's big names such as Scott Hamilton, Harry Allen, Benny Golson, Claire Martin, Champion Fulton, Ken Peplowski and many others.
