Jørgen Leth and Polish jazz — tribute event and concert with 'AC' and others
- The story about Jørgen Leth's Polish connections: Talk, multimedia show and tribute concert to Leth, Komeda and Stańko
Come and experience the unknown story of filmmaker, poet and journalist Jørgen Leth's connections to Poland and not least Polish jazz.
The event consists partly of a conversation with the initiators and editors of the book "Jørgen Leth and Poland – reports, poems, essays", Jacob Dammas and Józefina Jarmuzewska.
Partly of a video on the big screen with Jørgen Leth's reading from the book and interviews with him about his travels to and inspiration from Poland, as well as clips from his own films with Polish influences and a slide show with historical jazz photos by Vibeke Winding.
Finally, the Danish bassist Anders 'AC' Christensen will give a concert with songs from Leth's Polish jazz heroes. The ensemble will include the Polish resident Sebastian Zawadzki on piano and Anne 'Efternøler' Andersson on trumpet. They will play works by Krzysztof Komeda and Tomasz Stańko, as well as their own compositions.
The evening will be rounded off with informal socializing and networking. The organizers are offering a glass of craft vodka from EtOH Spirits. Jørgen Leth would have turned 89 on Sunday, June 14.
