🇬🇧 ENGLISH:
Jazz på svenska from 1964 is the best-selling Swedish jazz record ever. The record truly established Scandinavian jazz as a phenomenon and became an important milestone within the genre.
Jan Johansson therefore quickly cemented himself as one of the most significant figures, but unfortunately the pleasure was short-lived when he tragically died in a car accident at the age of only 37. Fortunately, his musical legacy still lives on, and is constantly being cared for by admirers who interpret it with their own twist.
This is done, among others, by the two Swedish star musicians, pianist Jan Lundgren and bassist Hans Backenroth, over three evenings in Montmartre.
For these tribute concerts, they dive back to 1964 with modern glasses on, and play classic Swedish folk music with a contemporary twist.
Both musicians have performed all over the world and with jazz's greatest artists such as Lee Konitz, Peter Washington, Benny Golson, Georg Riedel and Monica Zetterlund.
Furthermore, Jan Lundgren was the first Scandinavian pianist to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York, which is considered one of the greatest concert halls ever.
