Rufus Wainwright og Natalie Coles pianist i Danmark med stjerne-backing
Den californiske pianist Josh Nelson er en af den amerikanske vestkysts mest efterspurgte pianister, og det er ikke uden grund at verdensstjerner som Rufus Wainwright og Ivan Lins kontakter ham, når de skal bruge en unik og smagfuld akkompagnatør.
Nelson står på skuldrene af Californiens "cool jazz" lyd, hvis pionerer var kunstnere som Dave Brubeck, Chet Baker og Paul Desmond.
Med deres fundament i bagagen bringer han vestkystens melodiske udtryk videre altid præget af sit eget twist og store improvisationsevne.
Josh Nelson har høstet anerkendelse rundt i verden og har vundet Louis Armstrong-Prisen. Desuden var han bl.a. kapelmester for sangerinden Natalie Cole i de sidste syv år af hendes alt for korte liv.
Foruden Cole har han indspillet og arbejdet med jazzens største musikere som George Mraz, Jeff Hamilton, Michael Buble, Benny Golson, Greg Hutchinson, John Clayton og Lewis Nash.
Med sig på Montmartre medbringer han danskerne Morten Ramsbøl på bas og Morten Lund på trommer. Trioen har indspillet sammen siden 2024 og blander deres forskellige kulturelle baggrunde i det klassiske klaver trio format.

Californian pianist Josh Nelson is one of the most sought-after pianists on the American West Coast, and it is not without reason that world stars such as Rufus Wainwright and Ivan Lins call him when they need a unique and tasteful accompanist.
Nelson stands on the shoulders of the California "cool jazz" sound, pioneered by artists such as Dave Brubeck, Chet Baker and Paul Desmond.
With their foundation in his luggage, he brings the melodic expression of the West Coast forward, always characterized by his own twist and great improvisational ability.
Josh Nelson has garnered recognition around the world and has won the Louis Armstrong Award. In addition, he was, among other things, bandleader for the singer Natalie Cole for the last seven years of her all-too-short life.
