Den veloplagte dansk-franske jazzpianist Olivier Antunes forener sine Middelhavsrødder med en dyb kærlighed til den klassiske amerikanske jazztradition. Han elsker at dyrke mainstream jazzens mest raffinerede sider, og hans trios stil er solidt forankret i den akustiske jazztradition. Antunes er kendt for sin nærmest ubesværede teknik, der sender tankerne mod mestre som Oscar Peterson og Phineas Newborn Jr.

Franskfødte Antunes har siden 1980´erne tilhørt toppen af den danske jazzscene. Gennem sin lange karriere er han blevet anerkendt som en af de mest teknisk begavede og musikalsk sprudlende pianister vi har herhjemme. Han har udgivet flere plader i eget navn og samarbejdet med danske- og internaionale giganter som Palle Mikkelborg, Bo Stief, Alex Riel, Jesper Thilo, Art Farmer, Etta Cameron James Moody og DR Big Band. Denne aften hylder han jazz klaverets opfindsomhed med sin trio bestående af solide Anders Fjeldsted (bas) og dybt-svingende Janus Templeton (trommer).

What kind of jazz do they play?
The well-rounded Danish-French jazz pianist Olivier Antunes combines his Mediterranean roots with a deep love for the classic American jazz tradition. He loves to cultivate the most refined aspects of mainstream jazz, and his trio's style is firmly rooted in the acoustic jazz tradition. Antunes is known for his almost effortless technique, which sends thoughts towards masters such as Oscar Peterson and Phineas Newborn Jr.
His repertoire ranges from original compositions to inventive and courageous interpretations of jazz's many beautiful standard works.
What should I know about them?
French-born Antunes has belonged to the top of the Danish jazz scene since the 1980s. Throughout his long career, he has been recognized as one of the most technically gifted and musically exuberant pianists we have in Denmark. He has released several albums under his own name and collaborated with Danish and international giants such as Palle Mikkelborg, Bo Stief, Alex Riel, Jesper Thilo, Art Farmer, Etta Cameron James Moody and the DR Big Band. This evening he celebrates the ingenuity of the jazz piano with his trio consisting of the solid Anders Fjeldsted (bass) and the deep-swinging Janus Templeton (drums).
