— The New York Times

— JazzTimes

🇬🇧 ENGLISH:

Guitarist Peter Bernstein's quartet with Danny Grissett (piano), Doug Weiss (bass), and Drummond(drums), is a group of individual stylists who are like-minded in their commitment to swinging jazz music that comes from the blues all the way through the modern sounds of the 60's and today. They play original compositions, classics from the great jazz composers, and standards from the American popular songbook. They have all played with some the most important musicians of the late 20th century as well the younger generation of musicians who are keeping the flame. These musicians find inspiration from the past but play in the present moment.

Press Quotes:

"Few guitarists put as much care, sensitivity and subtle strength into every single note as Bernstein does. Among the finest melodists in jazz, he has a full-breadth command of his instrument, but his biggest assets are his knack for crisp understatement and simplicity.” – New York Times (Dec 2019)

"As one might expect, the collection of tunes is a straight ahead romp, with a spirit of true adventurism. There is a marvellous chemistry which provides a flowing and moving sense of dynamics. Fortner and Bernstein, both of whom have carried the load fronting their own trios, have a textural connection harmonically, with each contributing just enough to make it work.” - All About Jazz (Nov 2020)

“Peter’s an extremely elegant musician with a gorgeous tone that seems to relax you when you hear it.” - The Jazz Bakery, Los Angeles

“The jazz guitarist, among the most sought after in the New York area, has a feather-light touch, an encyclopedic knowledge of chords and the ability to play standards like he’s inventing them on the spot.” - The Los Angeles Daily News

“Mr. Bernstein is a fluidly improvising guitarist in the post-bop tradition, with control over harmony and a beautiful sound. - The New York Times Peter Bernstein produces a warm, ringing, muscular tone which echoes that of such giants as Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, and Kenny Burrell.” - Jazziz
