In Montmartre's series of intimate concerts with jazz giants, this fall we present the Grammy-winning American pianist Sullivan Fortner and his trio.

What kind of jazz do they play?
Sullivan Fortner's style draws on everything from stride piano and bebop to gospel and modern classical music. He can go from a complex avant-garde progression to the most soulful blues groove in a split second. He is a musician who, with an almost supernatural technique, builds a bridge between jazz's roots and its most progressive future.

What should I know about them?
Sullivan Fortner's career is packed with milestones that place him in the absolute super league of jazz. He won a Grammy for his collaboration with singer Cécile McLorin Salvant on the album The Window and has also collaborated with artists such as Paul Simon, Roy Hargrove, Wynton Marsalis and John Scofield. He has also been taught by giants such as Herbie Hancock and Fred Hersch.
