London-jazzsanger med varm inderlig klang

Sangeren Jo Harrop er en af de mest markante stemmer på den engelske jazzscene netop nu.

Hun synger med en varm klang, der er inderlig og betagende. Hun spænder fra det blues-inspirerede til et unikt musikalsk univers som er betagende og eftertænksomt.

Jo Harrop startede sin karriere som backingsanger og sidewoman for kunstnere som Enrique Iglesias og Niel Diamond m.fl, men flyttede til London i 2019. Her tog hendes solokarriere for alvor fart og fire album senere har hun for alvor fundet fodfæste i jazzen og alle dens facetter.

Hendes seneste album ‘The Path Of A Tear’, blev indspillet af den legendartiske pladeproducer Lerry Klein, der bl.a. er kendt for sine samarbejder med Joni Mitchell, Madeleine Peyroux og Herbie Hancock.

Som Iggy Pop har sagt om hende: ‘Jo Harrop is a very fine jazz singer… delicious.. I believe her…’

Med i hendes gruppe denne aften er den engelske stjernepianist Paul Edis, samt vores hjemlige topmestere Torben Bjørnskov på bas og Kristian Leth på trommer.

Singer Jo Harrop is one of the most distinctive voices on the English jazz scene right now.

She sings with a warm sound that is heartfelt and captivating. She ranges from the blues-inspired to a unique musical universe that is captivating and thoughtful.

Jo Harrop started her career as a backing singer and sidewoman for artists such as Enrique Iglesias and Niel Diamond, among others, but moved to London in 2019. Here her solo career really took off and four albums later she has really found a foothold in jazz and all its facets.

Her latest album ‘The Path Of A Tear’ was recorded by the legendary record producer Lerry Klein, who is known for his collaborations with Joni Mitchell, Madeleine Peyroux and Herbie Hancock.

As Iggy Pop has said about her: ‘Jo Harrop is a very fine jazz singer… delicious.. I believe her…’

In her group this evening is the English star pianist Paul Edis, as well as our domestic top masters Torben Bjørnskov on bass and Kristian Leth on drums.
