Charmerende sanger og bassist vinder jazz-priser i USA
Der er dømt feel-good jazz fra øverste hylde, når den amerikanske bassist og sanger Katie Thiroux gæster Montmartre med sin trio.
Katie er kendt for sit drivende basspil og en charmerende stemme, og har lagt sig i slipstrømmen af en af tidens andre store kvindelige bassister Esperanza Spalding.
Med blik for tradition, men med et moderne øre, tager Katies repertoire udgangspunkt i klassisk jazz. Men hun formår på nyskabende og overraskende vis at kreere visionære arrangementer.
De seneste år er hun stormet frem på den internationale jazzscene. Hendes debutudgivelse, "Introducing Katie Thiroux" fra 2016 blev kåret som "Årets debut" af Jazz Journalists Association.
Desuden har hun samarbejdet med nogle af jazzens store navne som Lewis Nash, Brian Lynch, Jeff Hamilton, Branford Marsalis og Terrell Stafford.
På Montmartre medbringer hun de to danske musikere, Martin Schack (klaver) og Espen Laub Von Liljenskjold (trommer). Begge er solide og respekterede medlemmer af den danske jazzscene.

It's guaranteed to be top-shelf feel-good jazz when American bassist and singer Katie Thiroux visits Montmartre with her trio.
Katie is known for her driving bass playing and charming voice, and has followed in the footsteps of one of the other great female bassists of our time, Esperanza Spalding.
With an eye for tradition but with a modern ear, Katie's repertoire is based on classic jazz. But she manages to create visionary arrangements in an innovative and surprising way.
In recent years, she has stormed onto the international jazz scene. Her debut release, "Introducing Katie Thiroux" from 2016 was named "Debut of the Year" by the Jazz Journalists Association.
She has also collaborated with some of jazz's big names such as Lewis Nash, Brian Lynch, Jeff Hamilton, Branford Marsalis and Terrell Stafford.
At Montmartre she brings the two Danish musicians, Martin Schack (piano) and Espen Laub Von Liljenskjold (drums). Both are solid and respected members of the Danish jazz scene.
