Thomas Clausen Trio - Celebrating

🇬🇧 ENGLISH:
What kind of jazz do they play?
Unadulterated and lyrical jazz that moves in what can be called the modern, acoustic jazz tradition. They revolve around the Nordic tone, but also take hold of the American song treasure and give it new life with an airy and sensitive approach. The concert will also feature the trio's own works, which often balance between the complex and the beautifully simple.
What should I know about them?
Thomas Clausen is a heavyweight who has played with the greatest legends in jazz history. As a young man, he was often a pianist in Montmartre and played with luminaries such as Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, Miles Davis and Stan Getz. He has also received the Danish Arts Foundation's lifetime achievement award for his importance to Danish music. The trio also includes Thomas Fonnesbæk (often called NHØP's natural heir) and the dynamic Karsten Bagge, both of whom are among the absolute strongest musicians in the Nordic region.
What do the critics say?
"Thomas Clausen Trio is a concept in Danish jazz... Music that appears exuberantly luminous, clear and mature." — Sundance Music (DK)
"Clausen performs the difficult feat of wandering far from the theme without ever losing touch... always sensitively." — Jazz Journal (UK)
"As a composer, Thomas Clausen is a sensitive poet... his music can make the hairs on your body stand up." — Statens Kunstfond (DK)
