Visiting John Coltrane - Kathrine Windfeld Sextet

🇬🇧 ENGLISH:

Kathrine Winfeldt Sextet welcomes you to 3 days where they pay tribute to 3 of jazz's greatest legends.

Kathrine Windfeld has truly cemented herself as one of Denmark's foremost new jazz composers.
At the latest Danish Music Awards Jazz, she was in the spotlight twice. Partly as the winner of "Live Name of the Year" but also as a nominee for "Composer of the Year". In addition, abroad has long since opened its eyes to the artist from South Funen.

"She delivers a colorful mix of sophisticated harmonic passages, physical grooves and poetic ballads in explosive arrangements," wrote The Guardian in their enthusiastic review. Last year, her highly acclaimed album ALDEBARAN was released, which she recorded with her sextet.

On the first evening, the sextet pays tribute to the late American legendary saxophonist John Coltrane. He is among the most influential and recognized figures in jazz and 20th-century music history. Constantly searching, Coltrane strived to rethink the saxophone playing and music as a whole.

58 years after John Coltrane's death, he still appears as a musical all-father who still touches the people who come into contact with his music. For the same reason, he has also been one of Kathrine Windfeld's great sources of inspiration.

As a permanent part of her sextet, there are the young but extremely experienced gentlemen: Tomasz Dabrowski (PL) (trumpet), Hannes Bennich (SE) (alto and soprano sax), Marek Konarski (PL) (tenor sax), Johannes Vaht (SE) (bass) and our Danish Henrik Holst Hansen on drums.
